Thanks, Alex. These were all common sense guidelines, but it’s good you took the time to put them together in an easy to follow list.

Yeah, I like the video idea as well. I think it’s super important to be consistent wherever you are online if you expect to stand out and have people remember you.

Interesting list, I heartily agree with the sentiment but I’ve found that the most challenging task as a designer is deciding upon your own brand, there’s so much potential which makes it tough to decide upon which direction to go, making it a really tough decision. I guess the only advice I can give in that regard is that your “brand” is all about you and so just go with what feels the most like home.

Great list Alex, right to the core. I agree with having the same image spread all across the web. Many of the so-called “marketing gurus” out there make the mistake over and over of changing their avatars on a regular basis it gets to the point where you ask yourself “Who am I talking to now?”. Great post; will come back for more.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Ingrid, you’re absolutely right of going more with your gut, as you think about what kind of brand you want to transmit. Your brand has a lot to do with how you are, less how you want to be.

@Paul, yes -obviously consistency in this area is important, especially when it comes to clarifying with others who you are :).

Great post! I think one of the key points in there was of course consistency. Also, your view on expressing the ‘voice’ of the brand is important and rarely discussed.

    Very helpful, thank you!
